Q&A With 's Scott Sessions

Pleasantville golfer Scott Sessions will be competing in the upcoming state championships.

Q: When and where will the states be held?

A: The state championship will be held at Cornell University on the 3rd and 4th of June. We are going up as a team (Section 1) on Friday, June 1st for two days of practice rounds. The states consist of both team and individual competition. 

Q: What does it mean to be able to compete at the states for a second year in a row?

A: Making it to states for the second time and being a senior in high school is a great way to end my high school career. After last year's experience at states, my goal was to go back again this year. It feels really great to have accomplished this.

Q: What will be the key to being successful in the state tournament?

A: The key for me is to have a good mental attitude on the course and be able to let a bad shot go and move on with a positive attitude. If I can stay positive, I believe I can win.

Q: What did you learn from last year's experience at the states that will help you prepare for this year?

A: This year's experience will be easier considering my past knowledge of the golf course and where to place certain shots. I am also used to the team atmosphere. Going up on the bus and dorming at Cornell with the guys and coaches was a lot of fun.

Some of this year's qualifiers were on the team in 2011. The guys and the coaches are a great group and I am very fortunate to be able to make this trip for a second time. I am looking forward to the whole experience and representing Section 1.    

Q: What did winning the sectionals this year mean to you?

A: Winning sectionals my last year of high school really means a lot. Every year my goals are set higher and higher. My goal this year was to win sectionals. I cannot tell you how great it feels to set a goal and have it become a reality.

Briarcliff baseball is continuing its winning streak sectional title game.

On Tuesday, No. 1 Briarcliff (19-4) rolled to a 12-1 victory against visiting No. 5 Dobbs Ferry Tuesday afternoon in a Section 1 Class B baseball semifinal according to Rob DiAntonio's story on MSG Varsity.
