Setters Rally in Game 2 to Complete Sweep Over Bentley
Pace University's softball team sweeps Bentley University with help of Shea's three-run homerun.

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y.- Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) hit a three-run homerun and tossed a complete game in the opener and the Pace Softball team rallied in the nightcap to complete a sweep over the Falcons of Bentley University. The Setters took the opener 7-2 and rallied in the sixth inning to win game two 2-1. Pace improves to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference play, while the Falcons fall to 4-10 and 0-4 in conference play.
In the opener, the Setters built an early lead behind a three-run homerun by Shea in the second inning. Rachael McMahon (Corona, CA/Esperanza) added an RBI single later in the inning as Pace led 4-0.

The Falcons got a solo homerun in the fourth to get one run back but the Setters answered in their half of the inning with three more runs. Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) got an RBI single, while Katie Lange (Upland, CA/St. Lucy's Priory) added another run with a sacrifice fly. Hana Wright (Hillsboro, OR/Valley Catholic) had a key hit later in the fourth inning with a run scoring double.
Wright went 3-for-3 in the game, while McMahon and Lana Buchbinder (San Francisco, CA/George Washington) both went 2-for-3. Shea (3-2) also shined on the mound, turning in a complete game effort, allowing two runs on nine hits and struck out one.

In the nightcap, the Falcons got on the board first as they scored a run in the fourth on a wild pitch. The Setters waited until the sixth inning to get their runs as Buchbinder led off with a single and came around to score on an error. Gellos put the Setters in the lead for good with a go-ahead solo homerun to left field.
On the mound, Kelly Fisher (Castle Rock, CO/Douglas County) tossed a complete game, scattering four hits, allowing one run and struck out nine to improve her record to 3-1 on the season.
The Setters are back in action on Wednesday, March 27 as they will host the Panthers of Adelphi University for an NE-10 Southwest Division doubleheader at 3 pm on the Pace Briarcliff campus.
