Briarcliff Manor hosted a successful soccer tournament, its first ever, on this past Sunday, October 9, at (formerly Kings College), FC Briarcliff’s brand-new soccer facility.

With the unfortunate last-minute cancellation of the FC Westchester/SUNY Purchase tournament, which left dozens of teams and hundreds of players without any place to play over the Columbus Day weekend, the FC Briarcliff Field Coordinator and coach of the BU11 Briarcliff Bullets, David R. Fishkin, invited five teams in the BU11 age group to participate in a six-team “mini” tournament.

The round-robin tournament featured each team playing each of the other teams once in 30-minute tournament-style games.

A beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the low to mid-80s set the tone for a terrific day.

The Munay Ossining Dynamite prevailed against some stiff competition to win the tournament with a 4-0-1 record.

“The tournament was a great success,” remarked Fishkin, the tournament director and organizer. “We could not have asked for better weather or better competition. This is an important inaugural event for Briarcliff soccer, and we hope to host more events in the future.”
