Photos: Briarcliff, Pocantico Girl Scouts Mark 100 Years

Briarcliff Manor and Pocantico Hills scouts gathered for a candlelight ceremony.

As the last remaining sunlight faded over in Briarcliff Manor Monday, about three dozen Girl Scouts from Briarcliff and Pocantico Hills formed a horseshoe in the pavillion and raised three fingers as they recited the Girl Scout promise.

Following the promise, the girls were led by ambassador scouts Annie Olsen and Ally Epstein in a candlelight ceremony to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting. Six scouts including brownies, cadets, junior and senior scouts lit candles and spoke about different aspects of scouting.

The ceremony was repeated simultaneously by groups of scouts throughout the seven-county Hudson Valley region. They then joined hands and sang Happy Birthday before eating green and white cupcakes.
