in Pleasantville is looking to make a difference this prom season.
"I participate to help prom girls that are less fortunate to spend a lot on their really special day," explained Francesca McAndrew of Le Left in an email.
McAndrew said she has known Noel D'Allacco, the founder and executive director of Operation Prom, her whole life.
According to its website, D'Allacco created , a nonprofit organization, in 2005 in Yonkers.
"Operation PROM was originally established to help low-income students attend their Proms by providing free Prom dresses and tuxedo rentals," according to the website. "It has since expanded to also help students with scholarships and school supplies."
McAndrew said the Pleasantville salon "had an informal formal dress drive last year, which was primarily through word of mouth, and collected a good amount of dresses."
This Saturday, any type of prom dress can be donated at the salon from 12 to 4 p.m.
As Operation Prom is partially sponsored by the Westchester County government, Miss Westchester 2012 and Miss Hudson Valley 2012 Megan Hernandez will be present for photo opportunities.
"It's such a great feeling working with people that love to make others feel great about themselves," said McAndrew.
