SPCA Makes Young Boy's Holiday Wish Come True

The 10-year-old boy undergoing chemotherapy fell in love with a puppy.

Sean DePatto fell in love with Prince, a shepherd puppy mix he saw on the 's website.

DePatto, of Garnerville, NY, has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for leukemia multiple times a week.

According to a statement from the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor, Prince is a 1-year-old puppy who was rescued from a high-kill shelter along with his siblings.

After DePatto made it clear to his parents he wanted Prince for Christmas, they called the SPCA.

"We were delighted to help his family make Sean's dream come true," stated Lisa Bonanno, development manager and transport coordinator for the SPCA. "So many people in the community were excited about surprising Sean with a puppy."

To help make the special Christmas delivery even more memorable, the Garnerville Fire Department agreed to bring Prince to his new home.

Said the statement, "Family and friends gathered to share the DePattos celebration as the furry, squirming Prince was placed in Sean DePattos waiting arms."
