Rosafort talked to Patch about the volunteer work she does with Hope's Door, a Pleasantville-based organization.

As part of National Volunteer Week, The Volunteer Center honors service by local volunteers such as Thomason. This year, at its 32nd annual Volunteer Spirit Awards , seven people and one organization are being celebrated.

Volunteerism unites people in their willingness to make an impact, said Alisa H. Kesten, executive director of The Volunteer Center.

“We applaud the invaluable contributions of all volunteers who affect change in our neighborhoods,” Kesten said. “The Volunteer Spirit Awards celebrate the ways the young and young at heart use professional skills, talents and enthusiasm to give back 365 days a year.”

Rosafort is the winner of the Volunteer Center of United Way's Spirit Award for Social Advocacy.
