The 8th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival is just two weeks away and there are still ways for you to get involved.
"Basically, we have two kinds of volunteers," explained Pleasantville Music Festival Co-Director Rich Sarfaty. "People who volunteer from town who do general duties for the festival...and 'hardcore volunteers,' a core group of people who, year in and year out, volunteer for the lead up and for the day of the festival."
"We have close to 150 to 200 volunteers for the day," he said.
Planning for this year's festival, to be held 12 to 8:30 p.m. at on July 14, has been in motion since February, Sarfaty revealed. "I spend probably 1,000 hours on this thing."
Since the festival's inception eight years ago, Sarfaty and Co-Director Solomon Skolnick have known it would lean on the shoulders of enthusiastic volunteers.
"It's a municipal event run by the Village of Pleasantville; The Peak [107.1] is involved," Sarfaty said. "It's a huge financial expenditure. By having volunteers, everyone is involved in the village who wants to be. There's a ton of benefits—it keeps ticket prices down. We try to run this thing as a benefit for everyone involved."
General admission tickets to the festival are $40 each and can be purchased in advance online. However, Pleasantville residents can pick up $30 tickets at , and through Sunday.
If you're interested in volunteering at this year's festival, get in touch with organizers by Monday, July 2.
"We encourage the participation of volunteers in age appropriate assignments," Skolnick said in an email that provided the following guidelines for interested volunteers:
