Volunteers Create Original Coloring Books for Blythedale Kids

Kids at the Valhalla hospital were treated to handmade coloring books created by Abbott House Kiwanis Aktion Club members.

Kiwanis Aktion Club members from the Services for
People with Developmental Disabilities (SPDD) program at Abbott House took on a unique project to put smiles on the faces of children at Valhalla's Blythedale Children's Hospital.

The members put together unique coloring books for the hospitalized kids, according to a press release.

"It was incredibly touching to see members of the Abbott House Kiwanis Aktion Club give back to the community, particularly the children of Blythedale," Abbott House Services for People with Developmental Disabilities Assistant Director Noreen O’Connor in a statement.

Twenty total adults from the Irvington-based Abbott House contributed to the effort.

"The focus of the Abbott House Kiwanis Aktion Club is community service,” said Abbott House President & CEO James L. Kaufman. "This is a great example of the potential of this program to empower our residents while they give back to the community."
