Back-to-School; Bird Walk

Here's a glimpse at what's happening locally in the Pleasantville-Briarcliff Manor area this week.

Here are some things to keep in mind this week:

1. It's back to the classrooms for Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville students this week! Send your first-day-back photos to sarah.studley@patch.com or text them to 914-374-7676!

2. The Saw Mill River Audubon is bringing its weekly bird walk back to Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Mount Pleasant Monday. Meet at 8:30 a.m. (no need to RSVP), unless you need to borrow binoculars. More details here.

3. With schools back in session this week, it's also time for modified sports to begin. In Pleasantville, middle schoolers will have organizational meetings after school Monday for modified sports and tryouts begin Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, Briarcliff Manor is hosting its modified sports informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. (for all sports except football). Read more here.

4. Briarcliff Manor's Planning Board meets on Tuesday. Among the agenda items—signage approval for several of the recently-renovated storefronts at Chilmark Shopping Center. Full agenda here.

5. Summer's not over...yet! This week's forecast calls for highs in 80s during the day and a chance of thunderstorms later in the week.
