  1. Know how to knit and purl? Take your knitting to the next level with the Kitting Workshop for Adults on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Public Library. Need some inspiration? 2. Join the Brown Bag Lunch Book Group at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Oct. 8 to discuss “The Stone Diaries” by Carol Shields. E-mail mgreenblatt@wlsmail.org or call the library at (914) 941-7072 to register.
  3. PleasantvilleRecycles.org presents “BAG IT! (Is Your Life Too Plastic)” at the Jacob Burns Film Center on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. Arrive by 6:30 p.m. – there’s limited seating. Sara Goddard from the Sustainability Committee of the City of Rye and Sharon Rowe of Eco Bags will speak. According to the film description, “everyman” Jeb Berrier, who is admittedly not a tree hugger, embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of our plastic world. What starts as a film about plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its affect on our waterways, oceans, and even our own bodies. We see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up to us and what we can do about it. Today. Right now.
  4. Attend the Hope’s Door “Shine a Spotlight” on Domestic Violence Fall Luncheon on Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. Tony-nominated and Emmy Award-winning Actress Liz Calloway, Conductor and Musical Director Susan Anderson, and family attorney and advocate Alayne Katz will speak. A silent auction includes tickets to Cinderella, Newsies, and Mamma Mia, among other luxury items and fun event tickets. Call Jennifer Ryan Safsel at (914)  747-0828 ext. 1005.
