Pleasantville Police Officer's Fate to be Decided Monday

Disciplinary Resolution for Police Officer Peter Burns

The Pleasantville Board of Trustees will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Monday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. in village hall. Included on the agenda is the disciplinary matter involving Village Pleasantville police officer Peter Burns. Burns was suspended in December for posting racist comments on Facebook about President Barack Obama that were “despicable” and “totally unacceptable,” Pleasantville Police Chief Richard Love said. It is expected that Love will decide the final decision for Burns’ future with the Pleasantville Police Department during Monday night’s meeting. For the full agenda, click here

The Pleasantville Union Free School District Board of Education will hold a regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school’s library media center. The Hudson River School of Art at Mount Pleasant Library

Painters of the Hudson River School brought to the public a uniquely American style of art with their realistic yet romanticized landscapes of a new nation. In this 90-minute presentation Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m., Skip Doyle will discuss the works of the Hudson River School painters and their historical and geographical context (including how to visit these specific sites) with special reference to our Hudson Valley where the School's earliest subjects were found.
