Don't Miss: Pups Dress for Halloween; 'Moving for a Cure' Fundraiser

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for several great events.

Mt. Pleasant: Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Mt. Pleasant Public Library are sponsoring a book sale at the Library on Friday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. There will be thousands of book bargains for children and adults including mysteries, poetry, biographies, history, fiction, and how-to books. The sale will also include CDs and DVDs. The sale is also going on Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday, Oct. 27.

Pleasantville Community Halloween Party

Pleasantville Children's Center is holding a fundraiser Halloween Party for preschoolers on Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. Come in your costume for a fun night of food, crafts and magic. The party will feature "The Great Charlini" – the magic show starts at 5:15 p.m. The cost is $15 per child / $35 for 3 or more children / Children under 2 are free. Adult costumes are completely optional.

Briarcliff Manor: Friday Night At the Movies

It's 'Friday Night at the Movies' at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. when you can watch "Much Ado About Nothing (PG-13)." Writer director Joss Whedon (Marvel's The Avengers) gives William Shakespeare's beloved battle-of-the-sexes comedy a contemporary makeover in this feature adaptation starring Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof. This new-to-DVD release will be shown on the Library's big screen. Registration is recommended but all are welcome to attend.

Pleasantville’s 2nd Annual Doggie Ragamuffin Parade

It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at the Pleasantville Dog Park (on Castleton St.) Bring your dog dressed in your favorite costume for dog costume parade. There will be prizes for Best Costume, Best Owner-Dog Costume Combo, and more. The cost is $10 for an entry fee – proceeds will support Community Scholarship Fund.

Pleasantville's Moving for a Cure

Help raise money for a great cause and support Marion Fioretti in her fight against Parkinson's Disease on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. at Lucy's Lounge 446, located at Bedford Road in Pleasantville. There will be raffles, drinks and food during the third annual event. Organizers will be raising money to benefit Team Fox, the grassroots organization that is a part of Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson's disease. This year organizers are trying to break the $30,000 in total fundraising. The cover at the door is $25.

Briarcliff: New Book 'Vanished by the Danube' Discussion

On Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m., former Briarcliff Manor Library Director Charles Farkas will give a special talk at the library on his new book, Vanished by the Danube: Peace, War, Revolution, and Flight to the West. This book presents Farkas's recollections of growing up in Budapest, a city whose grandeur embraced - indeed spanned - the Danube River; his vivid descriptions of everyday life in Hungary before, during, and after World War II; and his ultimate flight to freedom in the U.S. Copies of the book will be available for sale and will be signed by the author.
