Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament

Where/WhenWestchester Table Tennis Center on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
Why go: The 17th annual Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament is hosted by New York Times Crossword Puzzle Editor and Pleasantville resident Will Shortz. This year's affair will also include time for table tennis competition at Pleasantville's table tennis center. Coffee, desserts and tea will be offered to contestants. Registration is available at-the-door. Proceeds benefit the Pleasantville Fund for Learning.
Pricing: $30 individual; $45 doubles; $5 spectators

Giant Tag Sale

Where/When: 107 Bedford Rd. Pleasantville on Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why go: Benefits from this huge tag sale—including furniture, jewelry, appliances, DVDs and CDs, books, sports equipment, clothing, art and more—will benefit Hudson Chorale. 
Pricing: Free to browse; $10 for early bird access from 8 to 9 a.m.

Girl Scout Field Events

Where/WhenBriarcliff High School on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 12 to 4 p.m.
Why go: Senior Girl Scout Troop 2877 is inviting all fourth through sixth grade girls to an afternoon of field events at the high school Sunday. The event will include workshops in track, cheerleading and field hockey. A healthy snack and water will be provided, along with some field hockey equipment. Bring your own mouth guard and shin guards if you have them. Wear sneakers. Mail registration form to Sarah Bianco at 6 Quinn Rd. with a $5 check made payable to GSBT Troop 2877.

Graham Clarke Live

Where/WhenLaw Memorial Park on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m.
Why go: The village is hosting this free outdoor concert at the Law Park pavilion Saturday afternoon. The concert, featuring Graham Clark, is appropriate for children and families.
Pricing: Free

Movie & Pizza Night

Where/When: Pleasantville Recreation Center (48 Marble Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Why go: The Pleasantville Recreation Department will be screening The Incredibles (PG) and serving a pizza dinner for third and fourth graders. Pre-register by calling 769-7950.

Improve Your Posture

Where/WhenMount Pleasant Public Library Community Room on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Why go: Carol MacCallum Strozier will be on-hand at the library to demonstrate the Alexander Technique, which helps individuals identify and fix bad posture habits that cause stress and pain. Register by calling 769-0548.
