Free Recital Featuring Bach, Pachelbel, Liszt to Dedicate 1,000-Strong Pipe Organ Sunday, April 28, 2013, 4 p.m. Event in Pleasantville Open to All.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY, April 19, 2013 – The more than 400 members of Pleasantville’s Emanuel Lutheran Church are delighted to invite individuals, families and music lovers from throughout Westchester County and surrounding areas to attend the Gala Dedication of the newest church pipe organ in New York.

The Gala Dedication takes place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville, New York.  Emanuel is located at 197 Manville Road in Pleasantville.

The organ’s more than 1,000 pipes will create whispering lows to thundering crescendos to celebrate with music from Bach, Pachelbel, Franck and Liszt performed by Emanuel Minister of Music, W. Michael Brittenback.  Organ hymns will include “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow” and “Amazing Grace.”

The custom installed Kegg air-driven organ creates sounds ranging from a barely audible whisper to majestic forte.  The Kegg organ features sounds of trumpets, oboes, strings and flutes in addition to traditional organ notes.  Also, there is a special “stop” on the organ called a Zimblestern, featuring a set of four hand bells to add a high-pitched, festive ring.

This Dedication Gala performance is the first of a series of concerts being planned for 2013.
