PLEASANTVILLE’S EMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH HOSTS FUNDRAISER JUNE 8

MONEY RAISED USED FOR HURRICANE IRENE RELIEF MISSION PLEASANTVILLE, NY, June 5, 2013 – Pleasantville’s Emanuel Lutheran Church will host a car wash and tag sale on Saturday, June 8, 2013 to raise money for the church’s July relief mission trip to Schoharie County, NY, which was devastated by Hurricane Irene in 2011. The car wash and tag sale begin at 10:00 am EST, so get your car washed while you shop for treasures. Refreshments and food will be available for purchase throughout the day. Later in the summer (from July 7-12, 2013,) 25 congregation members ranging from the ages of seven to 65, will be working at Schoharie Presbyterian Church, which had six feet of water in the sanctuary during Hurricane Irene. Emanuel members will help with the continued clean up and rebuilding efforts. Schoharie Area Long Term (SALT) Recovery says that there is still three years worth of cleanup work that needs to be done before the area completely recovers. “We must all be aware that reconstruction and rebuilding is an ongoing process,” said Eiko Cornelius, one of the relief mission trip coordinators. “We thank the community in advance for their continued support to Emanuel Lutheran Church and its causes.” Donations of any kind are welcome. SALT Recovery is in need of N95 face masks, contractor or heavy duty garbage bags, paint rollers, push brooms, demolition and carpentry tools like crowbars, pry bars and staple guns, and bottled water. Donations should be labeled “SALT” and can be dropped off at the church at any time during the month of June. Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 197 Manville Road, Pleasantville, New York.
