There is always a reason for a price-increase - I can't remember ever reading about a reason for aRead More price-decrease. It's possible no one else has noticed this. Isn't capitalism wonderful?

And the USDA has killed more than a billion birds and continues to do so - killing birds is bigRead More business for them. Technology exists that would stop these strikes, but its not being used - could it be that its more profitable to kill birds? Hint Hint - the USDA makes 126 MILLION yearly from these slaughters. Educate yourself - wildlife has just as much right to live as you do. Its their airspace too - we must learn how to share, instead of just constant killing http://www.businessinsider.com/how-radar-can-prevent-plane-bird-strikes-2014-1 http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/10/131108-aircraft-bird-strikes-faa-radar-science/

IThe new Mrs Green's in Tarrytown does not seem to be doing well. Should have been a Trader Joe's!

@Bruce Apar - would certainly consider it if that was true, but having been here only for 12 years,Read More I'd never qualify.

I'm very sorry that Mrs. Green's did not consider expanding into Chappaqua when we really need aRead More grocery story, not a Walgreens. Yes, we can go into Mt. Kisco but they made a mess of the expansion in that store.

Sir....Perhaps emr did not mean that literally...but I did find that there is concern by utilityRead More companies about aging systems in older cities, "what to do about aging natural gas mains, many of them in difficult-to-access locations in older urban areas, which have deteriorated and are prone to leaking".....here's one NY example: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/energy/2014/03/140312-east-harlem-explosion-natural-gas-leaks-risk/

jo, we're very much outnumbered here in NY--by liberals and those looking for a handout. The cityRead More just elected de Blasio, and look what he's doing to charter schools. By the way, the powerful teachers union endorsed him. And I believe Cuomo will be re-elected. NY is a dysfunctional, overtaxed, nanny/welfare state, and sadly, I think the only solution is to get out. Leave the liberals with their mess.
brandie March 11, 2014 at 03:04 pm
Theresa as for Cuomo i think you may be wrong, he is in trouble and just doesn,t know it yet and theRead More only thing that will keep him is who the Republicans run against him. Astorino is not going to beat him and i do not know of any one else who could at this time.
Theresa Flora March 11, 2014 at 07:30 pm
Just like when no one thought Obama could get re-elected.

The problem with NYS is that it does not provide any incentives for local Planning or Zoning BoardsRead More to approve the very simple applications that come before them for approval or denial, or on the applications that are to set up, expand, or bring into the area a business of any kind. NYS is the most ANTI BUSINESS state you can live in, and I am not saying this to take any digs at the current Political Party that is in POWER, or at the economic goals that perhaps our current Governor is trying to achieve. NYS has been a very tough state to want to risk opening up a business in, whether you are that small shop keeper, or that business that can hire more than 50 people. NYS has always paid a blind eye and a deaf ear towards all request to help the small main street merchant wanting to either take a chance or survive. Never have I ever been exposed to a conversation held with a level of Government that is above both the local or County level, where when I got off the phone I felt like I could accomplish going forward with my dream to open up a business in NYS. NYS dead last for a reason! NYS JUST CAN"T AFFORD BEING DEAD LAST!

As a Small Business Owner in Westchester I'm disappointed ,as the 2 Parties bicker about who's faultRead More it is ..the problem get's worse by the day...the solution is in OUR HANDS !.. BUY LOCAL!,and whenever possible BUY AMERICAN !..As long as everyone longs for the Cheap Foreign crap, and flocks to the Big Box Discount Stores that deal in it,this country will never Recover..go ahead Shop online, give it to Amazon or whoever.. and you wonder why you can't find a Job? or the one you have doesn't pay what it used to..look into Income inequality..and maybe check out Robert Reich's documentary on the subject..We as Americans need to take responsibility for our Actions and the Consequences of those actions..We can't keep looking for SOMEONE ELSE OR THE GOVT to fix our Problems..Can't you see how Futile an Endeavor that is ? ..if this Country is to be Fixed it has to come from Mainstreet USA..not Congress or the White House, regardless of the governing Party whether they be Democrat, Republican,Independent ect..It was people in my area passing by my Store on their way to Walmart,Target, the Internet ect that made for a lousy Holiday Shopping Season,Not a republican or a Democrat.

@PatchRat- Well, you can look at this article negatively and say Patch is devolving into giving outRead More free publicity, or you can look at it as a positive article that shows anyone can succeed at a business in this time of economic hardship. I chose the latter.

One must be cautious regarding unemployment data. There are different methods of reporting the dataRead More as well as many potential distortions. Of late, Liberals have been reporting the numbers that make things sound better than they are. Why, the reader should ask themselves, is the Obama administration pushing Congress so hard to fund yet another unfunded mandate – emergency extended unemployment benefits – if the employment situation is now so bright we need to wear sunglasses? The author of this article is referencing a reporting method called the Household Survey. In this method, a sampling of U.S. households are called. The questions asked are whether you are working. If the answer is NO, then the follow-up question is whether you are actively seeking employment. If the answer to that question is NO, then you are NOT considered unemployed. Here are two shockers from this study from December. First, nearly 375,000 long-term unemployed people GAVE UP on looking for work in December. Thus, they are not considered unemployed anymore. This was a record monthly number. The second shocker is that nearly 18% of Americans who ARE working at present report that they are UNDEREMPLOYED. An additional shocker is that the unemployment rate for African American men is the highest ever reported, under a President that they vigorously supported twice in presidential elections. The second method for reporting unemployment is called the Establishment, or Employer, or Payroll Survey. This method simply counts the number of Americans actually receiving a paycheck. The results for December were “bleak,” according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They reported that total nonfarm payroll edged up an anemic 74,000 jobs in December. That is far behind the weak monthly average for 2013 of 212,000 jobs, which is also slightly behind the 2012 monthly job growth rate of 213,000. So, it appears that what we have here are Liberal talking points designed to defend their Uber-Liberal Love-Child (Obama) from criticism. Obama had two centerpiece promises in 2008 and again in 2012. Economic and jobs growth. And, of course, putting America down an inexorable path toward Socialized Medicine. He has delivered on neither. Obamacare is a train wreck. And, this has been the slowest, most jobless economic recovery in modern economic history.
