NY Medical College Employees Allegedly Stole, Sold Materials

The following is from Westchester County Police. It does not indicate a conviction.

Westchester County Police have arrested seven New York Medical College employees and charged them with swiping metal materials from the campus and selling them as scrap to a local recycling company. The men, arrested Wednesday and Thursday, are facing charges of grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree. Both counts are felonies; bail was set at $10,000 by Mount Pleasant Town Court. Police said the arrest of a college employee could follow. The thefts occurred at the Valhalla campus over the course of about four years and totalled around $37,000, authorities said. Among the items stolen were steel cages, copper wire and plumbing parts. Briarcliff HS Student Arrested for Marijuana Possession

The following is from the police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police were called to Briarcliff High School on Thursday, May 10 after school officials reported a student had marijuana on campus, according to Briarcliff Manor Police. Police reports indicate the department received a call at 2:33 p.m. from the school on Thursday reporting the incident. Officers responded to the scene and arrested the 16-year-old teenager. Updated: Mary Kennedy Died of Asphyxiation by Hanging, Examiner Says

Kennedy died of an apparent suicide.

Updated, Noon, Thursday The Westchester County Medical Examiner's office released a statement Thursday afternoon saying Mary Kennedy's cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging. Updated, 9 a.m. Thursday The New York Times is reporting that Kennedy's body was found hanging in a barn behind their home and that authorities who responded to the scene had attempted to cut her down and revive her. Kennedy apparently left a note. Authorities have not released a cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for this morning. First story: Mary Kennedy, the 52-year-old estranged wife of Robert F. Attempted Sex Abuse Accusations at Ossining MS

Student accused of demanding that another student perform a sex act in an AMD bathroom.

New details are emerging about the incident that took place in an Anne M. Dorner Middle School bathroom. It happened at 8:25 a.m. on April 26 on the third floor of the boys bathroom, according to Westchester County Police Spokesman Kieran O'Leary. Investigators say they are not releasing the age, grade or any other details about the alleged victim. However, they are saying that the two other boys involved in the incident are both 13-year-old eighth-graders. One of the boys is accused of pushing the alleged victim into a bathroom stall, then demanding that he perform a sex act. Officials Announce Fund for Survivor of Fatal Fire

Police have not yet released information on a cause.

Folks looking to show their support for Thomas Sullivan Jr. — the 20-year-old Carmel man whose four family members died in a fire May 1—can now do so through a benefit fund. A recent press release from the office of Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell announced the news. Donations should be made out to the following: The Thomas J. Sullivan Jr. Fund (P.O. Box 473, Commack, NY 11725). Police have not yet announced a cause. Carmel Police Chief Mike Johnson said on Wednesday that a joint investigation by members of his agency, as well as the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team, was still underway. Man Injured in Attempted Pleasantville Armed Robbery

Police were called to the scene after a man demanded money while holding a gun at the Marble Avenue restaurant.

A man was taken to the Westchester Medical Center after struggling with a suspect who tried to rob Louie Linguine's at gunpoint, Pleasantville Chief of Police Richard Love said at the scene. Love said the police department received a call reporting the alleged armed robbery at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday evening. He said the restaurant had just closed for the night and the lights were turned off when a man entered through the back door, pointed a pistol at the owner and demanded money. The suspect did not get any money before breaking through the restaurant's front door and fleeing the scene. Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Pleasantville Police Department from April 30 — May 6, 2012: Sunday, May 6 2:01 p.m. — A police officer was flagged down on Sunnyside Avenue by a driver's education instructor. The instructor told police that while he was telling his student to parallel park the vehicle, a man came outside and told the teacher not to park. After the student parked, he stated the man came out again and cursed at him. Police interviewed the man, who said he had engaged in a verbal altercation with the instructor because his car had been scratched in the past by student drivers. NAACP representatives and others renewed demands Saturday for accountability and punishment in the case of a White Plains man fatally shot by police responding to his medical-alert alarm. The man, Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., was 68 and wielding a knife, police said, when he was shot last November in his apartment in the Winbrook housing complex. The killing has sparked a furious community backlash, a subsequent grand jury investigation and, still under way, a federal civil-rights probe.
