Briarcliff Manor's Cravings Closes Up Shop

Owner mulls options as patrons voice support.

described on its website as a "chic new eatery/gift store"—made home at Briarcliff Plaza on North State Road and saw its customer base triple during its time open, according to Cohen.

The shop opened for breakfast and lunch, and added catering options to its menu later on. Gift items were also sold in the store.

"We offered a really fresh product," said Cohen, the store's owner. "You can't go many places to get the salads we served, the service we gave people. We took pride in what we did."

While she declined to elaborate on the decision to close up shop on November 7, Cohen said "it was more of a landlord/tenant issue," rather than a lack of business.

"It was a destination," she said of Cravings at its peak. "We haven't decided what we're going to do, if we're going to go somewhere else at this point. We're keeping our options open."

In response to a thank you email sent out to the eatery's mailing list following the closure, Cohen said she has "gotten so many responses" from loyal customers and is grateful for the outpouring of support.

"It makes you feel so much better knowing you did the right thing," she said. "We offered so much to the community and I know we are missed."
