Pleasantville Native Tops Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Test

Cadet Zachary Colangelo, a Pleasantville resident and Bucknell University student, earned the highest male physical fitness test score out of almost 450 recruits.

A Pleasantville resident is working hard to make his hometown proud as he trains at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, a U.S. Army Cadet Command.

According to a press release from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Pleasantville's Zarchary Colangelo came out on top during the 5th Regiment Army's June 24 physical fitness test.

Colangelo, who is also a Bucknell University student, received a score of 354 on the PT test—a passing score is 180. His score was the highest for all of the male cadets involved.

The test, according to the statement, includes a two-mile run, two-minutes of push-ups and two-minutes of sit-ups.

"Each Cadet completes all three and then receives a score based on the Army’s APFT score chart," the statement explains.

With his top notch score, Colangdelo is well on his way to become a member of the army.

According to the statement, "Cadets must pass the APFT based on Army standards for age and gender in order to qualify for the Army."
