Update, 1:52 p.m. Saturday  Pleasantville Police Lt. Erik Grutzner says the condition of the victim has "improved" and officials now know for certain the injuries are not life-threatening.

The accident investigation is continuing.

Grutzner said he does not expect any charges or citations will be filed against the driver.

Update, 2:21 a.m. Saturday — "We are still determining exactly what happened," Pleasantville Police Lt. Erik Grutzner told Patch.

The GMC Sierra, a pick-up truck, was headed into the village on Bedford Road at the time of the accident, according to Grutzner. An ongoing investigation involving village and county police will help determine how fast the truck was going at the time of the collision.

As is standard with serious injury accidents, Grutzner said the driver, a 24-year-old Pleasantville resident, consented to sobriety tests at the scene.

"There is no indication drugs or alcohol were involved," he stated.

The victim who was in the road at the time is in "serious" condition, but his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, Grutzner said.

He said he expects the roadway to reopen within the hour.

Update, 1:57 a.m. Saturday — Police are continuing to investigate the accident and the Fire Department is aiding with traffic. Bedford is now blocked at the Route 117 intersection.

The GMC Sierra involved in the accident appears to have minor damage to its front.

The victim was last reported to be conscious at the hospital, police said.

Pleasantville Police say the driver is still at the scene and it has been determined he was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.

The accident was reported at 10:50 p.m., according to the department.

A preliminary investigation suggests the 44-year-old male victim was in the road for an extended period of time while aiding another vehicle maneuvering in the street, police said.
