Pleasantville Police Investigate Sexual Assault

Update, 4:25 p.m.: Chief Richard Love stated no more details can be released at this time as this is an "active investigation."

He said the alleged incident occurred during "the early morning hours of the ninth," and the department "anticipates filing charges soon."

According to a statement from Chief Richard Love, the department is in the process of investigating a sexual assault alleged to have occurred in the village this morning.

"Our preliminary investigation suggests that this was not a random act of violence," he said in a note to the community.

Love said the police department has identified a suspect and is working to locate him.

"Since this is an ongoing investigation we cannot release any further information at this time," he wrote.

Love continued, "As always, we encourage everyone to be aware of their surroundings and to take precautions for their safety. The Pleasantville Police Department will continue to provide the highest level of public safety to our residents and I am confident that charges will be forthcoming."
