To Avoid Accident, Briarcliff Cop Cuts Off Unmanned Car

A Briarcliff Manor police officer was in the right place at the right time on June 11.

Police reported that at 5:59 p.m., police on patrol on Scarborough Road observed an unoccupied Honda Accord roll across the street, strike a rock wall and continue heading northeast on the street while rubbing against the wall.

The officer, noticing oncoming traffic, drove the patrol car in front of the Honda, eventually causing the Honda's front bumper to strike the patrol car's rear bumper.

The vehicle slowed to a stop. No damage to the patrol car or rock wall was observed.

Police were able to make contact with the Honda's owner, who said he was doing work in the area when the vehicle rolled away.
