VIDEO: No Injuries in Pleasantville House Fire, Cause Under Investigation [Updated]

No one was home when a Heritage Drive residence went up in flames this afternoon.

Update, 3:17 p.m. — No injuries have been reported in the fire that engulfed a vacant one family home on Pleasantville's Heritage Drive this afternoon, said Chief LaMonica of the .

The cause of the fire that completed destroyed the home and led to a small brush fire behind the residence is under investigation by Westchester County's Cause and Origin unit, LaMonica reported.

The fire, reported at about 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, created a large amount of smoke around the high elevation neighborhood, which one Pleasantville man said he was able to see from Marble Avenue.

"Some people said it was visible from [Interstate] 287," he added.

LaMonica said the investigation "could take hours."

Update, 2:30 p.m. — Most of the flames appear to have been put out on the home.

Con Edison personnel have also arrived at the scene.

The roof of the home appears to be mostly collapsed, especially the portion above the garage. Water can be seen flowing out of the front door.

Fire officials have started to break the front windows of the home as two ground hoses continue to target the flames coming out near the residence's chimney.

Pleasantville, Chappaqua and Millwood fire units have responded to 17 Heritage Dr. in Pleasantville where the home is fully engulfed in flames.

Valhalla and Pocantico Hills fire units are also providing aid at the scene, while Mount Pleasant police officers are securing the scene and as alerting neighbors about the situation.

One Pleasantville ladder is up by the home, where flames can be seen shooting from the roof in multiple locations. A ground crew is hosing the flames from in front of the house.
