9A Lane Closures in Briarcliff Sunday

Plan to stay off Route 9A heading south in the village this Sunday as triathlon bikers make their way through.

A portion of the Toughman Triathlon will be making its way through Briarcliff Manor, via Route 9A, on Sunday.

According to Village Manager Philip Zegarelli's weekly update, the portion of the race affecting locals "is the southernmost point of this annual fundraising event. We are the biking portion's 'turnaround.'

The Briarcliff Manor Police Department issued an alert via Nixle stating that the southbound lanes of Route 9A will be closed at Chappaqua and North State roads between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. Sunday.

"Drivers can access Rt. 9A southbound at Pleasantville Rd," police said. "Police officers will be at these locations to ensure that no vehicular or pedestrian traffic crosses Route 9A. Please be aware that there will be no exceptions. It should also be noted that plans have been put in place to ensure that police, fire and ambulance services will not be affected."
