Why Go: This Saturday, Pleasantville's local winery is serving up a Zinfandel reduction sauce over skirt steak to accompany the 2009 Alexander Valley Zinfandel, which is described as "Delicate and velvety, with modest tannins and a deeply inviting aroma," equally enjoyable with steak or dark chocolate.

Pleasantville Farmers' Market

Where/When: Saturday, 8:30 a.m to 1 p.m. at Memorial Plaza

Why Go: Stock up on ingredients for your favorite summer recipes this weekend with the from local vendors. This week, there will also be entertaintment for kids with Miss Patti's "Music and Movement."

Beer Tastings and Tours

Where/When: Tastings are available on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. at . On Saturday, there are free tours of the Pleasantville brewery at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Why Go: With the five-year local staple by the end of the year, there's no time like the present to check out the locally-brewed offerings of Scott Vaccaro and crew. Plus, you'll get a preview of what will be offered at and the Fourth of July weekend at Philipsburg Manor.

Summer Pool Hours

Where/When: The Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville pools are now open seven days a week. Stop by the Recrearion Department for your seasonal permit.

  • In Briarcliff Manor, weekday hours through this Friday are 3-7 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekends. Beginning Monday, weekday hours extend from 12:45 to 7:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the weekends.
  • In Pleasantville, the pool is open 12:30 to 7 p.m. on weekdays through Friday and 12:30 to 8 p.m. on weekdays beginning next week. Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: The village pools offer the perfect way to cool off without having to travel far. Bring the kids and let them splash around or head over alone to soak up some rays and relax.
