Shop locally and enjoy a free concert this weekend.

This weekend, get into the holiday spirit by trying out wine and appetizers for a good cause, cheer on an entertaining basketball team and dig into your family's past...all here in Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville.

Where/When: Pleasantville Road business district in Briarcliff Manor on Thursday, Nov. 3, beginning at 5 p.m.

Why go: This month's First Thursday theme is "Let Us Entertain You," and the businesses plan to do just that with young serenading singers; wine and chocolate pairing at ; and plenty of discounts at your favorite local shops, which will be staying open until 8 p.m for the occasion.

Where/When: on Bedford Road in Pleasantville on Friday, Nov. 4 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Why go: There's already snow on the ground, so here's a great excuse to get into the holiday spirit! John Krysko, who hosts the program Glass Up, Glass Down on PCTV, will be showcasing an evening of appetizers and wine tastings with a holiday theme at . All proceeds will benefit the Pleasantville Community Scholarship Fund.

Pricing: $40 in advance (leave checks, along with contact information, in the mailbox of 62 Hays Hill Rd.); $45 at the door. Space is limited.

Harlem Magic Masters Game

Where/When: gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy an entertaining game with tricks and an interactive halftime show courtesy of the Harlem Magic Masters. The game will also feature local talent. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Briarcliff Rotary scholarships and Briarcliff Booster Club. 

Pricing: $13 in advance at the PTA Book Fair, Briarcliff Manor Public Library and ; $15 at the door.

Where/When: on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.

Why go: Enjoy community activities including jumpy castles, hayrides, sack races and more at this family-themed event. While you're there, don't miss the Hollywood Hog Pig races and petting zoo, too! There will also be local vendors, a 50/50 raffle and face painting.

Pricing: $25/family

Where/When: of Pleasantville on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Why go: The opens its 35th season with the Manhattan String Quartet at a free concert. Selections from Sunday's program include Franz Schubert’s String Quartet in A minor, Op. 29, the String Quartet “Ainsi la Nuit” by Henri Dutilleux and Claude Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: 's Crandall Program Room on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Why go: Take advantage of this opportunity offered by the library and Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society to research your family and its history through genealogical tactics. Refreshments will be served.
