Two Pleasantville Scouts Earn Silver Awards

The two Pleasantville High School freshmen are Cadette Girl Scouts.

Pleasantville High School freshmen Silpaa Gunabalan and Madison Spears of Girl Scout Troop 2287 were recently honored for achieving their Silver Awards, according to an announcement on Patch.

The scouts have now achieved the highest award available at the Cadette level by completing the more than 50 hours of volunteer work needed to complete the project.

For her project, Spears' stocked 26 backpacks full of school supplies to distribute to school children through Neighbor's Link, a Mount Kisco-based non-profit organization.

Gunabalan worked with the Valhalla-based Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center to create a closet stocked with unisex garments for patients in the trauma center to utilize.
