9/11 Concert and Film

Where/When: The Presbyterian Church of Pleasantville on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.

Why go: Pleasantville resident Andrea Garbarini's documentary From the Ground Up will be screend as part of a September 11 recognition and fundraiser this Saturday. There will also be live music by Sing We Enchanted, an a capella group. The concert's program is entitled, "Singing Down Memory Lane: Songs of Nostalgia and Remembrance." Proceeds from the event will benefit Tuesday's Children, a non-profit organization that serves people directly affecting by 9/11.

16th Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament

Where/When: Westchester Table Tennis Center on Friday, Sept. 21 from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m.

Why go: For the second consecutive year, route: {:controller=>"articles", :action=>"show", :id=>"wordsmiths-compete-at-westchester-crossword-olympics"} -->, Pleasantville resident Will Shortz's Table Tennis Center will host the county's Crossword Puzzle Tournament. Participants will tackle three previously unpublished New York Times puzzles—Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The fastest solver from each round will then go onto a Thursday puzzle, to be solved on a large board. You can compete individually or in pairs. Trophies and puzzle books will be awarded to the best overall solvers and several other categories. Register in advance at
