Your Weekend: Briarcliff Community Day; The Mulligans Live

Where/When: and surrounding area on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 2 to 10 p.m.

Why go: The village's annual community celebration is kicking off with a free-for-all pool party from 2 to 6 p.m. as the summer winds down. At 4 p.m., the family games and activities—including race, face painting, egg toss and more—begin at the park. Stop by the booths to check in with community organizations such as the Briarcliff Manor Ambulance Corps, cheerleaders, the Cat Squad and more. From 4 to 7 p.m., the special attractions—including a water slide, tot helicopter ride, obstacle course and more—will be open. At 6:45 p.m., ventriloquist John Pizzi will be performing a comedic routine. Stick around for the grand finale—fireworks from 8:30 to 9 p.m., followed by a dance party until 10 p.m . at the pavilion.

Why go: The Pleasantville Road strip of businesses is staying open late again for an evening of shopping deals, free samples and more. This month's First Thursday theme is all about kids—so be sure to bring the whole family downtown to grab a bite to eat or pick up some school essentials.

Where/When: on Friday, Sept. 7 from 12 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 9 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Why go: Support the library and get your hands on a bestseller or a classic, a children's book or the hottest teen novel.

Why go: Get a taste of what's going on at LVP during this free day of family fun. There will be theater games, improv, dancing and more for the whole family.

Why go: Check out one of the area's oldest landmarks with a two-hour walking tour on Saturday. You will hear about Washington Irving, Revolutionary War veterans and more. The tour covers more than one mile on a variety of terrains. It will be held rain or shine. Buy tickets in advance here.
