How do you balance being a mother and mother? Have you found a good way to keep the spark in your marriage through date nights or impromptu getaways? Do you feel guilty about leaving your child(ren) or do you feel it makes you a better parent?

When I worked full time in the city I felt guilty every time I left them. Now that I'm home with them all day I can't wait to get out the door! In any case it's so important and definitely healthy to get me time, both alone, and with your partner. I think it sets a good example for the kids too, see mommy exercises, has friends, likes movies, etc. I am even considering a more regular night sitter (1/week?) because it would feel so good to know it's always coming.

We are fortunate to have a great sitter! We have our date nights with the kids and without. We want them to know it's just as important for mommy and daddy to spend time alone together as it is to have family time. I don't feel guilty because I know it's important for the kids to grow up with happy parents!

For me I feel working makes me be a better mom. I work part time and have the best of both worlds for me. I need that alone time to work my brain shop and do errands. I also have a girls night out every couple of months with friends. I don't feel guilty planning trips or nights our with Dh. We also need alone time and it helps us appreciate our kids more.
