VIDEO: Local Police Run Special Olympics Torch

Briarcliff Manor and Mount Pleasant Police were among those who participated in the annual run.

Briarcliff Manor and Mount Pleasant police officers took to the streets today to raise awareness for the 2012 Special Olympics.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run, , involves departments from across the state and nation, who carry the Special Olympics torch from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

A group of Mount Pleasant police officers carried the torch up a steep hill on Route 9, . They passed the torch along to Briarcliff Manor's representatives in front of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. Ossining officers took the torch in front of Arcadian Shopping Center. Briarcliff's portion of the route "is about 1.3 miles," according to Officer William Bassett.

"Every year, Briarcliff officers represent Briarcliff," said Briarcliff Manor Police Officer Linda DiMeglio.
