Briarcliff HS Boasts 14 Future NCAA Athletes

Graduating Briarcliff High School seniors prepare to head to universities including Harvard, Duke and Pace.

The following is from the Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District:

Briarcliff High School recently held its third annual NCAA press conference, introducing student-athletes from the graduating class of 2013 who will be taking their talents to the playing fields and courts next year at various postsecondary institutions.

Athletic Director Chris Drosopoulos and guidance counselor Nathan Heltzel introduced 14 talented athletes, providing an “overview” of their future plans, describing each athlete’s steps towards reaching his/her decision, and citing their respective athletic and scholastic accomplishments. In addition, they provided information pertaining to the scholarship or position offered, detailed particulars concerning the university/college and relayed pertinent “family facts.”

Parents, siblings, teachers, friends and administrators in attendance were filled with pride.

Varsity basketball player Jared Jones plans to continue playing in summer leagues in the months ahead.

“I am fortunate to have experienced memorable relationships with all of my teammates and coaches,” said Jared, who will play for Roanoke College next winter.

Another varsity basketball player, Ryan Huegel, found his BHS athletic experience to be “the most enjoyable time of my life” and is looking forward to many more wonderful experiences in the future when he takes the court at Vassar College.
