Pace B-Ball Rallies Back to Down Franklin Pierce
Pace University's men's basketball team pulled off a tight victory in New Hampshire.

RINDGE, N.H.- The Setters rallied back from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University 65-62 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace improves to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in the NE-10, while the Ravens fall to 12-5 and 9-4 in conference play.
Pace jumped out to a 10-6 lead on a Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) triple and a Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) three-point play. Franklin Pierce rallied to take 16-10 lead with 12:38 to play in the half. The Setters pulled even and traded baskets as Primus-Devonish's lay-up with 7:43 on the clock evened the score at 21. The Ravens closed out half on a 16-3 run as they led at the half 37-24.

The Ravens extended their halftime lead to 44-28 early in the second half. The Setters battled back as they chipped away with a 30-14 run as Williams pulled Pace even at 58 with 3:53 left in the game. Following a Ravens basket, Jonathan Merceus (Union, NJ/Union) evened the score at 60 and added a free throw to put the Setters up 61-60.
Ahmad George (Bowie, MD/Archbishop Carroll) added a pair free throws with 1:23 left in the half as the Setters extended their lead to 63-30. The Ravens got a basket with 1:13 left in the game to cut it back to one-point but Franklin Pierce missed a shot with 10 seconds on the clock.Kai Smith (Upper Marlboro, MD/St. Mary's Ryken) hit a pair of free throws with 3.5 seconds left and the Ravens missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer as the Setters completed the come from behind victory.

For Pace, Merceus led the Setters with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Williams tallied 14 points and eight rebounds. Primus-Devonish netted 14 points with five assists and three steals, while Smith finished with 11 points, three assists and a pair of steals.
The Setters hit the road on Tuesday, January 29 as they travel to North Andover, MA for an NE-10 clash against Merrimack College at 7:30 pm.
