PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace Athletics Marketing Department is pleased to announce the basketball promotions schedule for the 2012-13 season. Many new additions to the promotions schedule this year will continue to enhance the game day experience and provide a new level of coverage for the Pace Basketball programs.

This year marks the first Pace Basketball season that will be covered on local radio throughout Westchester County. In the fall, Pace Athletics completed a deal with WFAS AM 1230 to broadcast all home conference doubleheaders while promoting the athletics department at Westchester based events. This partnership will create a new level of exposure for the athletics department in the Westchester area and enhance the game day atmosphere.

Another new initiative for the upcoming Pace Basketball season will be the creation of a formal “Student Fan Zone” in the west end of the arena. Each Saturday home doubleheader will feature free food for students provided by a local Pace Athletics sponsor and giveaway items to use during the game. In addition, SAAC has created a Student Fan Zone t-shirt for the season which will be sold for $3 at each game to be worn in the student section. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Pace Basketball season will include many theme nights and giveaways for fans to enjoy. A few of the nights include the annual Pace Basketball “White-Out” on February 2 against Stonehill, Women’s Basketball Alumni Day on December 1 against St. Rose and Men’s Basketball Alumni Day featuring Sam Smith ’70 on February 2. Theme nights will include Greek Night and Ski into Spring where one student will be able to win two tickets to Miami for spring break. Another notable evening will be the Tuesday, November 20 doubleheader against American International which will feature the second annual Pace staff and faculty alumni game at halftime of the women’s and men’s game sponsored by Academic Federal Credit Union.

With the addition of both the radio and fan zone, many sponsors will be supporting various promotions throughout each game for fans to enjoy. Academic Federal Credit Union will provide $50 cash to one lucky Pace student each game. In addition, the spirit squad which is made up of both the cheer and dance teams will be performing during timeouts and halftime of each game. The Pace University Drum Line will make their return to the Goldstein Fitness Center to perform as well and elevate the game day atmosphere. This year, there will be additional “Minute to Win It” challenges during timeouts and halftime to engage the fans and give away great prizes throughout the year, such as movie tickets and gift cards to local restaurants.

On game days throughout the 2012-13 school year, there will be an enhanced community presence through the addition of WFAS AM 1230 and many community initiatives throughout the season. The second annual “Mount Pleasant Community Day” will take place on November 28 in a doubleheader against Southern Connecticut beginning at 5:30 pm. Mount Pleasant residents will receive free admission to the game and the VIP Room of the Goldstein Fitness Center will be filled with holiday activities and seasonal food items. The annual “Play4Kay” Breast Cancer fundraiser will take place on February 9 sponsored by Twin Jewelers of Pleasantville. All proceeds from the game will be donated to the Kay Yow Foundation.

Throughout the 2012-13 Pace Basketball season, an enhanced use of social media will be available for fans to interact throughout each game. Be sure to tweet using #pacehoops and post your pictures to the Pace Athletics Instragram account.
