Pace Football Looks to Build Program in 2011

The Setters are gearing up for the first game Sept. 1.

Ninety-two football players hit the ground running today for the first preason practice of the 2011 season at .

With making up more than half of the full squad, Head Coach Chris Dapolito said in a statement, “We have a large class coming in and that means we will be young on the field. This is the next step in building a championship program and we couldn’t be more excited!”

Tomorrow is the first "official practice," and the first home game against East Stroudsburg University is Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:05 p.m.

The NCAA Division II Setters went 0-9 last year, losing the season opener 0-57 against East Stroudsburg.

“The beauty of college athletics is that the start of the fall term is an opportunity to welcome a new group of student athletes and mold them into good students and leaders,” commented new Director of Athletics . “This year, in particular, is going to be special because I am excited to help the university and the athletics department look to the future as Pace looks to upgrade the Pleasantville campus.”

Brown joined the school in May in the position.

Pace University is an NCAA Division II member of the Northeast-10 Conference with 20 varsity sports teams.
