Feeling Like a Francophile This Weekend?
Here's how to celebrate Bastille Day with your taste buds, whether you want to stay close to home or venture further afield.
Allons, enfants!
If you're looking for something to celebrate other than the return of Twinkies, Bastille Day is July 14 and the region is commemorating the occasion all weekend.
"We're celebrating here," said Patty Irwin, manager at Jean-Jacques in Pleasantville, where small French flags already adorn the counter and Eiffel-Tower-shaped cookies are in the case. "We have a Bastille Day brunch going on, and we have authentic crepes, our croque madame and monsieur, and we've made some special cakes."

Or if you can go further afield on the 13th, the annual Bastille Day celebration in Piermont is a lot of fun. Piermont Avenue is closed to traffic and fills instead with costumes, music, cuisine and thousands of visitors.
