Mother's Day Wine Pairing

Where/When: on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13 (Tasting Room hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday)

Why go: Taste the Pleasantville winery's new 2011 Sauvignon Blanc paired with shrimp salad on crostini by . The new 2008 Sweet Velvet port-style wine will also be released and paired with truffle chocolates from . All mothers will receive a rose this weekend.

Where/When: Wells Fargo Bank (1050 Pleasantville Rd.) parking lot on Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: The annual plant sale will be held rain or shine on Saturday with a variety of colorful plants in containers suitable for patios or hanging. Some of the plants were also taken straight out of Garden Club members' gardens! There will also be homemade baked goods available.

Pleasantville Garden Club Plant Sale

Where/When: Memorial Plaza gazebo on Saturday, May 12 from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Why go: Perennials, herbs, gifts and baskets for sale in time for Mother's Day.

NEXT Charity Concert Series

Where/When: on Friday, May 11 from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Why go: The series with performances by Kristina Koller (opening) and Boston's In Like Lions. Proceeds from the concerts benefit Gilda's Cub and the Greyston Foundation. 

Pricing: $10 entry, cash bar

Where/When: Grant Street in Pleasantville on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: Join the more than 150 volunteers who will gather at various sites throughout the Saw Mill River Watershed to clean up trash along the river and cutting invasive vines. Learn more and register by clicking here

Where/When:  on Friday, May 11 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Why go: The ADA Dance Company has opportunities for competitive, performance troupes and FUSION dancers. Call 741-5678 to reserve your spot.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go: Kick off the fishing season (no fishing before Saturday permitted) with the annual derby. Bring your own pole and hooks, but bait will be provided at the park. Prizes will be awarded in various categories for participants ages 14 and under.
