Briarcliff Manor Police: Thousands of Golf Balls Stolen

The following is from the police department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Briarcliff Manor Police Department from June 24 — 30, 2013.

Saturday, June 29

6:39 p.m. — Police received a call from an A&P employee who stated a man who appeared to be in his 20, was outside the store asking customers for cash. Police located the man and asked him to stop. The man left the area without further incident.

Friday, June 28

12:38 p.m. — Police received a report of a man asking for rides in the Route 9/River Road area. Police located the man shortly before 1 p.m. near the Sleepy Hollow Country Club. The man told police he was homeless and had asked someone for a ride. Police provided the man with some money to take a BeeLine bus to the White Plains shelter.

Thursday, June 27

10:10 a.m. — Police responded to the scene of a single-car accident at the intersection of Pleasantville and South State roads. Police said the driver's Nissan Altima jumped the curb while turning left onto South State Road, causing damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle and the airbag to deploy. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday, June 26

2:57 p.m. — An employee of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club called police and reported that sometime overnight, six buckets of golf balls—each containing approximately 350 balls—had gone missing from the driving range.

Tuesday, June 25

2:23 p.m. — A Macy Road resident called police and stated her father was not allowing her mother to leave the house. Responding officers said the father stated he was concerned for his wife's well-being. Police said no further action was necessary.

1:33 p.m. — Police received a complaint from the owner for a heating and air conditioning company who said a Ridgecrest Road homeowner was throwing rocks at him. According to the man, the homeowner was refusing to pay for the services rendered and was hitting him and his van with rocks.  Police advised the complainant that the payment issue is a civil matter. No criminal charges were filed as a result of the alleged rock throwing.

12:00 p.m. — Police stopped a vehicle on Route 9 and arrested the driver, a 40-year-old Ossining resident, for allegedly driving with a suspended driver's license and in a vehicle with a suspended registration. He was processed and released on $100 bail with a July 10 returnable court date.
