Browse the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our daily local dispatch.

Patch wants to make your life a little bit easier. Here are a few things to keep in mind today in the Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville:

1. The Scarborough Presbyterian Church-based Hudson Chorale is looking for new members this month. Auditions will begin on September 16. Get all the details here.

2. The Briarcliff Manor Public Library is now accepting registrations for its "Reading to Rover" sessions, slated for this fall. During this unique program, kids can develop their reading confidence by reading aloud to a trained therapy dog. Email abgkaplan@gmail.com or call 941-7072 to register for a session (the first is September 17).

3. Thursday's skies will be partly cloudy, with temperatures in the low- to mid-70s. There is a 20-percent chance of rain

4. Visiting hours and a service has been set for the two Port Chester women who were killed in Sunday's Sprain Brook Parkway crash. Details are here.

5. In Patch blogs, Jerry Eimbinder puts the focus on Ira Berkowitz, a local author who found literary success later in life.
