New Pleasantville HS Principal to be Appointed Tuesday

The search committee reported making its recommendation to the Board of Education in an executive session Wednesday.

Seven weeks after Pleasantville's Board of Education announced it would accept a resignation agreement for former PHS Principal Dawn Bartz, it will appoint her replacement.

According to an update from the High School Principal Search Committee, which reported reviewing more than 70 resumes for candidates when it first came together a few weeks back, the group has provided feedback to the Board of Education.

The committee is made up of district parents, teachers and administrators, and conducted two rounds of interviews.

The Board of Education previously told the public it would be simultaneously conducting searches for both probationary (presumably, eventually permanent), as well as interim candidates.

The Committee said it met with the Board of Education Wednesday in an executive session to "give our feedback." The Board is expected to announce a replacement for Bartz, whose two-year stint officially ended July 31, at its Tuesday meeting.

The resignation proved to be a controversial move that community members, and Bartz herself, protested at subsequent board meetings.

Bartz said she reapplied for the position.
