Briarcliff Police: Un-'Welcome' Spray Paint; Fireworks Set Off in Mailbox

The following is from the police department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Briarcliff Manor Police Department from July 1 — 7, 2013.

Sunday, July 7

11:47 a.m. — A Locust Road resident told police it appeared someone had attempted to enter her garage overnight. She stated nothing was missing.

Saturday, July 6


11:48 a.m. — A Colby Lane resident reported spotting a rabid raccoon. Police weren't able to find the animal.

Friday, July 5

11:40 p.m. — Police stopped a vehicle on Route 9A and arrested the driver, a 42-year-old Montrose woman, for allegedly driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and with a suspended driver's license. She was processed and released on $100 bail with a court date.

3:45 p.m. — A Law Road resident reported someone had set off fireworks in his mailbox sometime overnight.

9:54 a.m. — A Law Road resident reported that a concrete retaining wall on the street had been struck sometime overnight and tagged with purple and silver graffiti that said, "Welcome Home." The resident told police she had previous altercations with a neighbor and would check the video surveillance for clues as to who caused the damage.

Tuesday, July 2

8:20 p.m. — A South State Road resident reported to police that he has purchased a cement mixer a couple weeks ago, but when he went to collect it, he found it it had been sold to another person. Police advised the man the issue was civil.

9:03 a.m. — A Holbrook Lane resident reported to police that her parked vehicle had been struck by another vehicle on South Highland Avenue the day prior. The woman said she heard the vehicle reverse into her car. Police responded to view the vehicle, but were unable to verify if the car had been damaged.
